Stop guessing numbers in your code.

Give yourself a slider in the s&box editor instead.

Stop guessing numbers in your code.

The problem

A magic number in the code.

protected override void OnUpdate(){    if ( Input.Pressed( "jump" ) )        Jump( 350f );}

Every tweak means edit, save, wait for hotload, test. Then do it again.

The fix

Make it a property.

Mark it with [Property] and it shows up in the inspector, where you can change it while the game runs.

[Property]→editable in the inspector

The fix in code

Tune it live.

[Property] public float JumpForce { get; set; } = 350f; protected override void OnUpdate(){    if ( Input.Pressed( "jump" ) )        Jump( JumpForce );}

350 is still the default. Now you can change it without touching code.

Pro tip

Add a Range for a slider.

[Property, Range( 100f, 1000f )]public float JumpForce { get; set; } = 350f;

Range turns the field into a slider between those two values.

The rule

If you'll tweak it, expose it.

Tune it live
[Property]
Keep it sane
Range( min, max )
Hardcode
true constants only
